Welcome, I read somewhere over the years where your dad schooled you in the finer points of blackjack.  Is that your favorite game when in Vegas?  Have fun.   :welcome:   :slot:

That's true. Blackjack is my favorite game, but I also like playing live poker (tournaments / ring games). Are there many blackjack players here?

I don't think there are enough to get any good blackjack threads going.  I myself like to target DD games.  I use the simple +- Hi Opt 1 but also include a side count of aces for betting and playing purposes.  No problem here keeping track of the aces as it is only a 2 deck game.  I too have been playing much more poker the last few years as the good blackjack games have been few to none.  Been playing mostly cash games, I must look into poker tournaments.

I play BJ but not well enough to be considered an advantage player. Hurts my head to do that.

I bet there are plenty of good BJ players here.  It seems like most people gravitate to a combination of VP and BJ, with some live poker thrown in.  Actually, it's interesting that we don't talk about the games more than we do.

I'm an okay player, pretty competent with Hi-Lo, a few index plays here and there.  When I look back, I think I'm ahead overall at blackjack over the past few years (usually play DD, often at the El Cortez), but it's not a huge part of my total play.  Been gravitating toward more VP in recent years because the comps are better and it doesn't involve as much real-time concentration.  Every time I play blackjack I enjoy myself and tell myself that I should play more often, but as Bard says, it can overheat the brain.
