ANYONE BEEN TO VEGAS IN JULY?
« on: April 14, 2013, 05:53:09 PM »
I got an offer from Sam's Town for the months of May,June and July. The only month that is an option for us is July. Are we nuts?

No, not nuts,  just stay indoors. lol

It's hot but unless your a jogger or like walking along the strip all day, who cares?  Park in parking structures only and keep the getting in and out of cars to a low roar.  Use valet etc.

If you must walk up and down the strip,  do it very early morning. Stay cool, be happy.  :)  If your a drinker, one glass of water for every "drink" you have. I'm  not a drinker so I don't know the exact rule but it's something like that!
Best Regards,
Lolly

I've been twice in July but I'm from Texas and didn't think it was bad at all.

Not at all.

However, my perspective is a little skewed.  Vegas in July can be 5 or so degrees cooler than Phoenix and definitely less humid.  If you were asking about Phoenix during July/August aka monsoon season, I'd recommend waiting until Labor Day.

I've been in July a couple of times.

It's hot.  Anyone who tells you different is lying!

As others have said - stay hydrated, rent a car and use the valet to park it.  Exercise indoors or in the early mornings.

It's still Vegas and it's still lots of fun - it's just hot!

Have a great time!

Cheers,
Deanna

I'm with the others -- it's hot, but it's not terrible.  As the saying goes, "it's a dry heat".  I'd take Vegas in July over Florida in July every time.  There's not a lot of moisture in the air, so it's not overwhelming.  Just drink lots of water and limit your time outside during the day and you'll be fine.

It's fantastic pool weather if that's your thing, and the big crowds are usually scared about it being too hot, so it's not crazy crowded.

We have arrived in Las Vegas many times in July.  And yep, it's all about what you are acclimated to.  We live in "jungle climate" Houston, and we have a running joke upon arrival in LV to our limo driver - "We came here for the cool climate!"  People who do not understand "but it's a dry heat" need to live in Houston (or other humid area) for a while to truly appreciate that phrase.

And as my husband has always remindeed me about clothes or weather or etc. :  "The casino is always 72 degrees."

Agnes, you hit it......it's always 72 degrees (or cooler) in the casinos.  And after two minutes or so, it's always 72 degrees in my rental car.  Any time spent between the two, I just think of Chicago weather, and I am fine.  Betty, my wife, is cold when it's 85 degrees, so the warmer it is the better SHE likes it.  Happy wife, happy life.

IMHO, IF you plan on walking outdoors any distance, rubber soled shoes are a poor choice for footwear, as are sandals.

I always have a bottle or two of H2O, a wide brimmed hat, sun blocker, an umbrella, and a very lightweight windbreaker jacket. (It can be cold inside anywhere until you adjust) But, I use the public transportation, or walk, almost everywhere.

Thanks guys!  We figured doing maybe an hour at the pool in early morning then do our casino hopping later in the day. I have no intention of walking the strip! We always rent a car so that won't be a problem. Who knows, the way the weather has been so crazy this year it may be snowing in Vegas in July!

Heat in Vegas is not as oppressive as it is in humid locations. All the same, even a Texan might be a little shocked by the first 102-degree midnight. If after a day or two you begin to crave the outdoors, a walk in early morning at Red Rock can be considerably cooler.

You'll be surprised by the number of people you'll see. Summer is traditional vacation time, and Las Vegas is a vacation destination in July, too.

Agnes is spot on with the humid heat vs. dry heat.  Although we burned UP 5 years ago when we went in July.  I mean, hot is still hot, but at least you are not immediately drenched in sweat when you step out of the shower.    Houston

I am annoyed at Depeche Mode for having their concert here in September in The Woodlands...I did buy the old people snobby seats under the awning with big ceiling fans but still...outdoor concerts from May-Oct here are the dumbest thing ever.

I'll be in Vegas in June so fortunately it will not be hot.   ;D

I was in Vegas over the 4th of July week 5 or 6 years ago and it was 116 degrees for 3 or 4 straight days. The airconditioner in the rental could not keep up with the heat.It just depends on how much heat you can handle.Personally, the heat would not stop me from coming in July.

Oh and Joyce,if you like laying by the pool, call ahead and make sure the pool is open.It was closed last week for construction.

Well J think back to your last trip. How much time did you actually spend outside in the daytime?

Second I would be sure to park in the garage if valet parks your car in the sun. You would be safe at SP their valet is underground. I do not know about Sams.

Third any time you are there is a good time.
