Mob Museum is located in the old Federal Court House-Post Office building right in the heart of downtown. From the south, take the downtown spur off I-15, get off right away, and you'll see it on the left. It's on Stewart Avenue and has its own lot. It's walking distance from other downtown casinos if you visit them.

Everyone's mileage varies on the LVA coupon book. It was a positive play for me when it had several $25 matchplays and a slew of smaller ones at convenient casinos. If it was still a good play for me, I'd play it even though I got tired of anthony and the trolls who dominate the board.

I might just bypass the Pawn Stars ship after your assessment and head to the Mob Museum. Is that anywhere near the Pin ball hall of fame?

It's about 6 miles between the Pinball Hall of Fame (A) and the Mob Museum (B).  Here's a Google map link: http://goo.gl/maps/Qcz8q

Seemed farther than 6 miles when we went, maybe it's because it's all surface streets and we hit a lot lights.
Best Regards,

Six miles and at most times of the day a minimum of 30 minutes from downtown. But with that said, Pinball Hall of Fame is a great stop if you even remotely like Pinball (classic to the present) and older video games.

I wouldn't skip the Pawn Shop unless there are large lines waiting to get in. I've been and wasn't thrilled with the place, as has been pointed out, a good portion of the store is TV Show merchandise, but there are still some cool things to look at. Plus, when you watch the show on TV you can say you've been there.

Welcome to the board, James.

Agree that the shop is worth visiting if it's not crowded, and it's right down the Strip from downtown if you're already downtown. I would not buy anything there, especially not jewelry, which was way overpriced.

I've heard the prices are high but you have to remember a few things. Due to the TV show, the place has become a tourist trap, so the prices CAN be higher. Also, the marked prices are the ASKING prices. EVERYTHING in a place like this is negotiable. It's not uncommon to take 20 - 25% right off the top.

I've only been in there once and it was just for a few minutes. It was busy but not jam packed. Iwasn't in the market to buy anything, I just wanted to see it. With that said, it looks a lot bigger on TV than it really is.

harrahs will charge you a resort fee if you are not above platinum, even on comped rooms.

Thanks for the heads up jenaphir. I apologize if this is covered somewhere else on this forum. But, does Harrah's still have the diamond in a day?

They discontinued Diamond in a Day this year
so those of us who want to bitch, are going to bitch.  and those who want to bitch about the bitching are going to bitch about the bitching.

I am talking more than double the fair price for some Indian stuff my wife knows about. Hard to deal starting at more than double.

UPDATE: booked my stay across Red Rock Casino, The Palms, and the remaining with Aria Resort and Casino. Any LVA members going to be around for a meet? Got a rental car and will be taking my flavor of the month along.

I just had a friend return from a stay at Palms Place while he was at various horse tournaments at the Gold Coast and the Wynn. He loved Palms Place, and it didn't cost much more than the regular rooms at the Palms because it was slow. So since I found the regular Palms rooms okay but not more than that, I would recommend going for a cheap upgrade to the Palms Place rooms, which are suites. The $20 trick may work that time of year (non Fri/Sat).

Also, Red Rock rooms are pretty moderne, so you're in for a treat there, I think. Kind of upscale Star Trekkie.

We stayed at Red Rock for the second (or third?) time a couple of months ago -- the rooms are very nice there -- I'm sure you'll like it!

trips cancelled. My best friend was tragically killed in a car accident last night. She was going to tag along.  :'(
I hope next year to have a report I can write about.
