I could see them happy to lose the forums but not the main web site. I think it is just more a-hole management.

Ummm, Ody is the gentleman with whom I had the disagreement in the LVA offices. I posted the argument at the time, but am too lazy to look it up. I think I said something like, "If that's the way you feel, you're a horse's ass." He said that was the way it was. And I responded with, "Then you're a horse's ass."

Now why AC wanted to call metro probably had to do with me referring to him by his real name, which evidently is a no no in the office, which is pretty funny.

Anthony has got to be pissed.  It's like the ultimate in incompetence in the IT world.  Virus infected web site and then inadvertently let your domain name expire.  I bet all of the dozens of warnings that the web site is about to expire were being sent to Ody's old e-mail.

it would be hilarious if ody left on bad terms and refused to give up the password to renew the domain.

Let me be the first to congratulate LVA for being the first web site I visit to accidentally allow their domain name to expire.
Congrats on being the first to post about it.

I wonder if this is part of their solution to the virus problem. ;)

I clicked my QoD  link and went wtf? I bet somebody is a little crabby today.  How do you let your domain expire?  Poor management.

They are exceptionally incompetent.

I guess when the whole crew is working 24/7 on the new super-improved website, insignificant inconveniences like this one can happen.
But don't worry - we're working on it! :)

Just managed to connect to the FFA forum and QOD.

Guess they somehow managed to solved this little problem before February.

That's not what that screen was saying.

I was saying that the site was hosted by GoDaddy. Also, if you're the idiot that forgot to pay, here's your warning up pay up! And in the meantime, we're letting all your customers know you're a deadbeat.

Looks like someone put a crowbar in AC's wallet and got him to pay. The site's back up...

Let's cut AC a break. He probably assumed the domain would expire in February.  :rotf:

Too funny.

It looks like their policies may have changed, but it used to be that as soon as a domain name expired, if you wanted it back you had to pay a ridiculous redemption fee.  According to this page, they now no longer charge the redemption fee until day 19, so that saved LVA $80.  :)

While not necessarily related to their virus or domain problems, today's Question Of The Day is, er, um....

From their Today's News section:

November 17, 2013 14:21 Website Problems: Our apologies for the interruption in service this weekend -- not so long ago, we expressed some amusement when Harrah's web domain expired, wondering how that could happen in a huge company like Caesars Enterainment. Well, guess what? It can happen to anyone and we just fell victim to the same issue, due to the credit card on record having expired and apparently no one at GoDaddy seeing fit to inform us of this fact. It's taken awhile to get everthying up and running again, but all should be good now and we've just been able to post today's Question of the Day -- it's an interesting one, so check it out! And apologies to Harrah's.

btw: QOD was up for me a few minutes ago.

Not that I like, or want to 'defend' LVA, but fair is fair.

GoDaddy sends out dozens of e-mails before a domain expires, and they also send out e-mails if your credit card on file is expired.  They can try and pass the blame all they want, but they screwed up.  I would have had more respect for them if they didn't try and pass the buck.
