Twitter Message Confusion

Hi everyone...found the site thanks to a Twitter post from Vegas Introvert about rental cars.  Thanks to him for the post-

My topic is another Twitter find.  User "MrBear303" said yesterday: "The best part of being platinum @mgmrewards is I can order a "better" whiskey while gambling at the @parkmgm bar.  Cant wait to go back in September."

I am platinum @mgmrewards as well and I'll be staying at Nomad (and Venetian) beginning 9/24.  I also enjoy whiskey immensely.  My question is, what does he mean by "better?"  I've never heard of flashing my card at the bar and getting access to top shelf booze.  Anyone else done that?

Any friend of Vegas Introvert is a friend of ours. Glad to have you here.

I'm tin level at MGM, so no personal experience, but hopefully someone here has a higher tier and can advise. Worst case, you could always ask when ordering a comped drink, "Does my card status get me access to anything better than Jack Daniel's?" (or whatever whiskey they had typically been giving you)
