Im Regina, we go to Vegas a few times a year.

That is, untill the airfare got rediculous!!

Do you ever check Southwest? There are sometimes some good fares from Minneapolis via Southwest, and a lot of times, they are the flights that connect through Chicago.

Just a thought.

If you are in the O'hare than no SW. I live southwest of MDW and I get pretty good rates for SW. And no charge for checked bags. But maybe not if you have to drive past the big airport to get there. Some OK parking choices available off site.

True, SW is Midway... to us non-Chicagoans, there is no difference between Midway and O'Hare. haha

How far are the airports apart?

26 miles or so apart. But it is all about location. I am south of MDW around 9 miles.

You all must just be spoiled. ;) I don't live terribly far from MSP airport (25 miles), but I would easily drive an extra 26 miles if it meant I could get a cheaper fair... and I have to imagine that parking is significantly cheaper at Midway too?

I know years back when my mother flew to Vegas she drove to friends in Minneapolis a 120 mile drive. She was only 50 miles from DLH Duluth MN. But choices and prices made the other a better option.

Where I park at MDW is $7.25 / day with tax plus those lovely misc fees that add another $4 or 5 per day.

Yikes have the parking rates gone up?  I wish Milwaukee would get some good SW rates...I'd fly out of there in a heartbeat!

Go to airfarewatchdog.com for a daily email of fares to any city you select. Its free, I use it when I travel.
