Which hotel/room for 3 guests 3/4 nights?
« on: December 28, 2014, 12:39:41 PM »
Hi All,

looking for your advice on the best hotel for myself and 2 of my buddies. We'd like to share a large luxury suite, but with our own beds/rooms within the suite. Looking for luxury items such as a billiards table and high quality sound system.

Max budget is $5000 for 3 or 4 nights.

Any recommendations?

Cheers,
Will

These rooms are a little more than your budget, but they might negotiate with you depending on your travel dates.

Thanks unknowme, I just sent them an email regarding The Crib Suite which looks perfect, but probably out of our price range.

And to be clear, I wanted to spend $5k total, not per night. The Palms Luxe collection is definitely out of our price range :-)

Part of the puzzle is in the days of the week you plan to be there.  If you're talking about Sunday-Thursday nights, you can get a lot more for your money compared to a Friday or Saturday night when rates are higher.

Red Rock Resort (off the strip -- about 15-20 miles away) has a number of really nice 2-bedroom suites, including their Presidential Suites (seen here) which include a billiard table and a nice sound system.  I read an old review that suggested that those rooms run $600/night, but it was not clear if that was a weekend or weeknight rate.  I don't know if they have any three bedroom suites there, but you could certainly call them to find out (866-767-7773).  Red Rock is a beautiful, higher-end resort hotel in Summerlin.  If you don't mind being a little bit away from the strip, I highly recommend Red Rock.

It's interesting that you chose that one. It's the first one that I thought might be a good fit, even before you posted that you had selected it. It might be too expensive for 3 or 4 nights, but maybe you can negotiate something for 2 nights or even 3 midweek in an off period.

Given your budget for a room, do you and your buddies intend to do some gambling, and if so, how much are the three of you prepared to lose collectively? It might not be enough to make a difference at the palms but then it might, and if not, it would help us steer you into something.

BTW, how many times have you visited Vegas? If this is your first visit, then forget Red Rock and stick with the Strip. If you've "been there and done that," then an off-strip property is worth looking into. Just MHO.

If you place a statistician's head in dry ice and his feet in boiling water, then on the average he is fairly comfortable but his comfort has a large variance.

Most people have more than the average number of legs.

Just call me the "quad kickers" of deuces wild and double bonus poker.

Interestingly I was able to get Palms to bring the Crib Suite into our budget (3 nights; Sat, Sun, Mon) for $5,000.

However, we have settled for the MGM Skylofts at the same price.

Thanks all!

Was that the MGM's stated price or did you negotiate with them as well?
And how did you decide between them? :D

There's a wealth of positive reviews about Skylofts online, and while The Crib looks to be a great suite, I couldn't find a single review aside from some grainy youtube clips.

Have you stayed in The Crib Suite before?

The strippers will not care whether the sound system is high quality or not.  Heck, they won't even care if there is music.  Personal experience indicates they will dance, even if the music is only me humming.  (OK, OK, no "story" here I'll be relating in this thread, just a very long, long, long time ago.)

OTOH.....

You never answered whether you will be gambling, or been to Vegas before.

I suggest contacting a host (IF you gamble) and seeing what they will "require" for comps, and whether "front money" will make it easier for them to comp you.

May as well "work" the comp system from the beginning.  You'll only get them if you ask.
