It's gone down some over the years.  However,  it's certainly not a bad buffet as some of the comments would lead you to think.

I agree with James, it used to be a very good basic buffet, kind of comparable to Stations; not as good in the past few years, but certainly not bad, not like the old Axis of Evil (Circus Circus-Sahara-Imperial Palace).

You've got us there! I was going to say that MSS wasn't that bad when compared to Hometown Barfette, but the Axis of Evil takes the stale, choke-inducing, crumbly cake.

I was wise enough NOT to eat at the Imperial Dump's buffet after walking through it and savoring the oh so fine scents and colors of all that wonderfully prepared processed food-related product.

I was dumb enough to attempt to eat at Circus buffet in Reno back in the olden days. I've seen desert sand that had less grit and more moisture than the fried chicken they had. The canned vegetables were the highlight of the evening, along with the Cool Whip and Jello. :barf: There was almost nothing edible in the entire buffet. The customers were all old farts on low budgets gumming their food.

I guess I'm getting closer to that age now but my taste buds aren't dead yet.

Agreed with this.  For the price, there's always enough to find to eat.  I rank it consistently higher than the Golden Nugget's buffet, too, although that's more of a commentary on how bad the Nugget's buffet is.

I think that part of the issue with the MSS buffet is that we've seen an increase in the number of high-end buffets over the past few years, so the older, more standard buffets like the MSS buffet, just don't stack up well. The MSS buffet is a good value buffet, especially at lunch and breakfast. For the dinner buffets, I wouldn't say they were bad, but with the price, you're creeping up to where you can eat at 777 or a good coffee shop for the same money.

I think the seafood buffet is highly overrated. I won't eat that again unless it is comped.

Thanks, Stat, second most amusing fried chicken anecdote I've ever heard.

I agree, Kevin, the GN buffet is surprisingly lackluster, you really don't expect that at a high-end property.  Of course, MGM's buffet isn't fit for a dog, and it's right around the corner from Joel Robuchon.  Go figure.

Tom, I agree that the MSS seafood buffet is nothing special at all, but it is amusing when it's someone else's kids playing with the melted butter.

Has the quality of the MSS buffet really gone downhill, or are we frequent travelers to Vegas getting tired of eating buffets in general?

It's just a throw-back to the "low-quality dining" MGM is talking about.  Kind of like MSS's resort fee policy.

Well played, sir.
