The Money guys is irritating as hell, but same or different guys this other bloke must be doing something if he has a website many seem to know and they're speculating about him in absentia.

Check this out, he has to be Alan Mendelson...

Well done, Chipchik!

Remember, there is an LVA "rule" about "outing" pseudonyms or posting them on the forum, so tread lightly unless you want to be banned by anthony.

Actually, the very first message in that thread says and proves it all.
Look at the signature line.

Thank you and thanks for the warning, maybe I could just put some of his famous "quotes" in my siggy.

It wouldn't surprise me if Singer (sorry, Augustino, is it?) is casinoboss. Whatever Singer/Augustino may be, he has a certain clever knack for tweaking and undercutting the "opposition's" credibility, even if he doesn't really believe what he himself is selling.  His being casinoboss pretty much makes a mockery of the LVA forums and the LVA itself, if that turns out to be the case. He's got a whole population of forum members hanging on his every word; it's just about always the most popular thread. If he's Singer/Augustino, that's really funny, and I'd have to salute the dude.

It took me a long time to "get" why Singer has such a sustained grievance against Dancer/Granhoff, but Granhoff's blogs have been a weird eye-opener for me, so now I "get it."

I don't really think casinoboss is a casino boss.

I tend to agree that casinoboss is not a casino boss, although did state that he is a "Senior Team Leader" and currently employed by a casino in answer to one of my inquiries.

As I've said, or implied, previously, almost anyone knowledgeable in casino's could impersonate a casino boss and be as competent in answering the questions asked.  Anyone who ever worked in one certainly could, and would learn through osmosis, enough to answer most questions .

I used to manage a charity casino company. We would operate the casino with as many as 50 table games (or more) for various organizations, etc.  Usually we would have at least one event each week, and often.  I've also worked in the industry, primarily casino poker rooms, as a brush, dealer, floor person, and manager.  I can deal or box any casino game.

I've been involved with private "clubs" with gaming. I ran my first poker game at age 15 in the backroom of a pool hall, and had my fair share of home games.  I've even been "raided", and ::: gasp ::: arrested.  I've spent much of my life, even when working legitimate jobs, earning money as a result of gaming.

casinoboss just does not ring true with me.

Of course, he could be "Team Leader" of housekeeping, responsible for keeping the public restrooms clean.  ::: shrug :::

Meanwhile, I'm not quite certain "I get it" about the grievance between Dance and Singer.  Care to elaborate?

Hell of a thread. I guess our bringing the column to LVA was a good move. Here are my comments.

Dancer's play was solid. He wasn't "chasing comps" or doing anything that won't accrue to increased profits down the line. Do you really think this guy is sloppy? Not remotely. And no one but he has ALL the facts.

Singer is disingenuous and ill-informed. Anyone who gives him a shred of creedence is sorely out of touch.

We at LVA need to pay more attention to these message boards and we will. Interested in moderating? Contact me.

I'm amazed at the relative civility of this discussion, but hear this. The next person that uses a real name, first, last, or otherwise of a pseudonymed gambler will never post here again. It's not remotely cool or clever. Do not do it again.

Unfortunately, I cut and pasted a message in which a name was mentioned. I was very quickly banned. I had an email exchange with anthony, and he reinstated me.  I pointed out that since I copied and pasted a published and copyrighted article, did not mean any harm or to violate his rule, so sorry, yada yada.  My ban was lifted after 7 hours and several email exchanges. ::: shudder :::

As tempting as it seems, I would tread very lightly and carefully in that arena.

I used to be. A long, long, long time ago, perhaps as far back as April 1st.

I do not consider myself a troublemaker, although I've been known to instigate.

And it's very possible I will again.

Sooner or later.

C'ya later chip.

:))

Chipchik.....    Honest, I meant no harm calling you "chip". It was a typographical accident, and my backspace key is temporarily broken-frozen so when I went to fix it, I just can't seem to correct it.

edited to add,

I just came back to try to fix it in "modify", but having some difficulties doing so.  ::: shrug :::

Well, "Singer's" aka is a poke-fun-at-Dancer reference. And it sounds as if most of the barbs "Singer" aims at advantage players are aimed at Dancer -- he seems to be the bullseye at which Augustino fires his arrows.

When Augustino rails at the arrogance of the advantage players who sell their wares, I swear he's directing it right at Granhoff. Based on Granhoff's book versus his blog writing -- that book was more heavily edited, I suspect, than I at first assumed. I don't know if he's unaware, or just doesn't care, but the Granhoff blogs come off as Thurston Howell III with none of Thurston's charm.

yeah, being annoying and alluding to being a 'celebrity'.

He probably is "recognized" by others as somewhat of a celebrity in his neck of the woods. Anyone who is on television "regularly" has had "fans" recognize them when out and about.

He is a television "host" of some sort with a show.  I have no idea what type of show, of whether it's sponsored by the station or a paid "commercial" program. I've never watched it, nor do I ever intend to.

It airs at 8am Sundays (KCOP Channel 13).  The station is part of FOX.

Incidentally, I no longer have ANY doubt about identity.  MoneyLA and Alan Mendelson are one and the same. "The" web site also has a page devoted to his kidney & pancreas transplant, something Money wrote about, and the timing is right as well.

So....... just how many other "groupies" are on this site?  No need to all raise your hand at the same time.  He knows who you are.

Everyone in Southern California knows who Alan Mendelson is. He's been "The Money Man" for years and years and years. He has a SEGMENT on the news showing supposed great deals. That's about it. I wouldn't consider him a celebrity, but if reality television idiots can call themselves celebrities then I guess Alan Mendelson is as well.
