Fremont Street
« on: April 25, 2011, 06:34:14 PM »
This blogger is writing daily about his current trip in Vegas, where he plans to spend one night only in every hotel on the strip.

I'm not particularly enjoying his daily blogs, however he did write one today that I found very interesting about   Fremont Street the many good things happening there, particularly on East Fremont Street, and new or perhaps unknown "attractions".

I found it intriguing, and something the average tourist would not know about, nor many regular Vegas visitors.  There are also many links embedded within the blog for further exploration.

Personally, I love Fremont Street and downtown.  This article makes me realize just how much is there that I, and quite possibly most of you reading this, have missed.

Do yourself a big favor and read this blog.

Nice article.  I planned to check out Insert Coin(s) (which just opened a few days ago) on my upcoming trip.

All of the things in that article are great news for downtown, and especially the Fremont East and El Cortez area.  It makes the 'Tez that much more attractive, too.  I just can't wait for them to put in the pool they've been hinting at for a while.

Thanks for posting that article.
I have never read a spin on Vegas that put Fremont East on top as the "real" Vegas.
It is so exciting to see Fremont East developing against the pressures of this lingering recession.
I am not looking forward to being priced out of the El Cortez rooms, but all the rest is welcomed.  Thebeat is a great addition. Vinyl celebrates.

Insert Coin(s) was doing well.  I asked the door guy how business had been, and he said that there was an hour wait the night before to get in, so that it's been great so far.  I really like what they're doing on that block of Fremont -- I think it spells only good things for downtown and the El Cortez, too.

I checked the blog but I didn't see anything about Insert Coin(s).  So what is the scoop on this place?  Is it an arcade as I assume?

A retro arcade -- they have a bunch of old coin-op arcade games from the 80s and 90s, plus rentable game consoles ranging from the original NES to newer stuff along with semi-private booths to play in.

We popped in during the day a few weeks after they opened and it wasn't packed or anything, but the door guy told me that they've been filling the place up every night with lines out the door waiting to get in.  I don't know if that's still the case, but if it is then good for them.

Thanks knagl.  I'm looking forward to grabbing some quarters and spending some time there.

I wonder if the Insert Coin(s) has that video arcade game I used to play at Excalibur
years ago that was based on a Western Frontier scene where you get to play the marshal
and clean up the town by shooting the people playing various bad-guy roles.

If you don't do well then the mayor is on a donkey bidding you farewell and gives you
advice that you need to brush up on your shooting. LOL

One guy I saw playing shot the barmaid instead of the bad guy behind her at the bar.
