I am not a paying member, so I can't see the newest room survey at LVA. Perhaps someone can.
I can see December 2010 for free and that article as much as it is in love with itself as the mother of all surveys, puts casinos in categories of below $20, then below $30 and so on. I am curious whether that is still the method of reporting on low hotel rates in Vegas.
The problem is that the math they use for the categories ignores the reality that resort fees are just an add on to the hotel rate, so all the ranking and grouping is just bad journalism.
This is especially true at the lower end of hotel renting, where a resort fee might add 50% to the price of a room, putting the under $20 folks right up there with the under $30.
I am particularly irked that El Cortez, and other downtown places, get shafted in this sort of survey because they have no resort fees, so their low prices are.......well......low. but they don't get any credit.
What does the reporting in the newest newsletter room survey look like? Any subscribers.
