There is not a consistently reliable way to identify a loose slot machine. Research on the internet might turn up places that are generally better than other places. As a broad rule of thumb, you are better off staying away from the main part of the Strip, which runs roughly from Stratosphere to Mandalay Bay. Places that aren't casinos but have just a few machines in the corner are usually bad.

North and south, meaning downtown and the extreme south end of the Strip (South Point), and locals casinos scattered around town may have looser machines. Palms used to claim loose slots but I can't say if that is true now.

Occasionally, a bank of machines will advertise 98% payout or a similar number. If you find one, it's a good bet.

People on this forum tend to play better paying games than slot machines, but many of us harbor secret addictions to them. Since you're in town to have fun, find a game you think is fun. Some games even accommodate two or more players. Those can be lots of fun with a congenial group.

As bard said, off the strip is going to have better payouts and "looser" slots.  In very general terms, the strip has the worst payouts, followed by downtown, followed by many "locals" casinos that are located around town.  Small bars, gas stations, slot parlors, etc. aren't known for great payouts, either, based on displayed video poker paytables.

Also speaking in general terms, the better the video poker payouts at a particular casino, the more likely that their slot machines have better payouts, too.  The worse the video poker is, the worse the slots tend to be.

Note, too, that even if you play on a slot machine that offers 99% payback, that's over the course of millions of spins.  Anything can happen in the short term, including winning a bunch, or losing your shorts trying.
