What is your longest stay in Las Vegas while on vacation?
« on: September 02, 2013, 10:20:31 PM »
Hello everyone,

This is my first post on this forum and I learned of this forum from another forum where I have participated since 2007.  I am curious to know if anyone is as obsessed with Las Vegas as my wife and I.  We made our first visit to Vegas in October, 1965 and have been returning for visits for many years.  In the last few years we have extended our length of stay and this year we stretched our trip out to 2 nights in Laughlin followed by 28 nights in Vegas.  We just enjoy the atmosphere and the complete relaxation we experience in the different casinos.  We stayed at the Four Queens, Main Street Station, Rio, Flamingo, Quad, and Seven Stars this year and all rooms were comped.  I doubt we will stay as long next year but then who knows.

Don :)

Welcome Don!

Yes, most of us are as crazy about Vegas as you are.  :)  I'm from southern California so my stays are short 2-3 nights (few 4 nighters)  but frequent every other month.  There was a time it was every month, but I've slowed down (too much packing/unpacking and running back and forth.) Plus Ca has nice casino's here.

Best Regards,
Lolly

I'm not big enough to get comped rooms.

The longest I stay is 6 nights.

I just can't bring myself to pay Saturday night rates....

I forgot to respond to the initial question -- our longest trip was, I believe 12 or 13 days.  We're averaging around 8 now.

Once we took the in-laws to see relatives in Utah. We spent two nights chaperoning them in Vegas (seemed like a week), dropped them in St. George and spent the weekend at Bryce and Zion, picked up the in-laws and put them on a plane back in Vegas, and had 3 or 4 more nights to ourselves.

Those were days of easy comps for us as long as we avoided long stays and weekends, so it worked out great.

Longest consecutive Vegas stay was six nights, once again all free,  when the ECLVA and special friends were in town. We had to move once to get all the nights free, and ended the trip in a suite that a friend from ECLVA wasn't going to use. That trip I learned how it feels when you lose half your stake the first two nights. Fortunately, my luck improved.

We do 14-day trips.  One December our flight was cancelled and it took 2 days to reschedule so our longest was 16 nights.

Back in the "good ole days", when the mrb & fun books were easy to get, had match plays, and "insured" the profitability of a trip (for me),  I extended a couple of 1 week trips into 18 days or so.

Even paid the "cancellation" fee for my airline ticket home ($50 - $75) to extend.  My room rate was less than $20/night, and I would get comped for the weekends.

I think the longest was four nights over Thanksgiving weekend one year. Most trips are one night, occasionally a two nighter. (It's only a 3-1/2 to 4 hour drive for us from So Cal.)

Longest was 8 nights, average 3 to 4 nights.   I'd stay longer, it's the the wife/work/kids thing that stops me :)
