Hey Group,

If any of you care for Elvis and Elvis Memorabilia, go see the now FREE (but donations are accepted)  Elvis  Exhibit (called "The King's Ransom") at Binion's Casino.  Its last day of operation will be March 31st.  The exhibit's hours are 12 Noon to 10PM Daily.

But at least some of the stuff from this collection has been moved to the Las Vegas Hotel (formerly the Las Vegas Hilton and International) where Elvis previously performed concerts.

I definitely found it interesting and there is some Elvis stuff (such as Photos, Glasses, Music CDs and I think DVDs) for purchase.

More information about the exhibit can be found at:  http://www.thekingsransom.com.  And there's even a Youtube page set up for "The King's Ransom Museum" with several videos to check out.

Even though I was never an Elvis fan, I found the exhibit to be worth seeing. And at free the price is right.

Rumors are flying that they're already going to close it down due to low attendance.  The REALLY needed to advertise or at least place a sign on Fremont that it was there.

Yes, JMan, I was told by the guy at the cash register at the exhibit that March 31st is to be the last day for the exhibit at least there.  Some of the pieces (including his last car) have been moved to LVH (Las Vegas Hotel).  The powers-that-be at "The King's Ransom" have been trying to to get into LVH for 10 years.

There are some photos of the exhibit in front of Binion's saying that it is there and so I visited it on both last Tuesday and Wednesday and there were definitely more people there on Wednesday afternoon.

I found the exhibit pretty interesting with all of Elvis' different possessions there plus all of the writing about these items.  So again I'd encourage anyone interested in Elvis to go check it out before it closes at Binion's or at LVH to see some of the stuff.

I never knew it was there.  Although, I suppose, I never much cared, either.

Well, it was a more recent thing -- first showing up around last summer I think, but I had seen ads for it in some of the LV Freebie magazines.

This is another reason why I urge people who come to LV to get their hands on whatever Freebie magazines they can since you never know what may be in there (in terms of ads, coupons and whatnot).

First time we went we didn't go in - it didn't look much and it was around $15.00 admission.
Next trip we were walking through and saw that it was free so we went in - I enjoyed it.
I am not an Elvis fan so the sequin suits and cars did nothing for me. But the hand-written lyrics to the songs, the report from his primary school teacher, his passport, his revolver, letters from his peers, ticket stubs - I can look at that stuff all day long. If you get a chance to see it I recommend that you go. It is better than it looks!

Edited to add - the gold and platinum discs are worth the trip - really cool to see them.

I was pretty impressed with the collection and all of the reading material that went along with it.  They also played some videos about Elvis and had some Elvis performances as well.

When I was there in October, it was $10 Admission with no discounts or $8 with a coupon.  I don't know if Tix4Tonight was offering anything either.  I did wonder if $10 or $8 was worth it (and there was more stuff there at that time -- since I was told that some stuff has since been moved from there to Las Vegas Hotel), but with a $1 per person suggested donation, I thought that it was definitely worth it!
