LVA at it Again
« on: November 04, 2010, 09:22:34 AM »
I've been anticipating a PM from someone so checked in over at LVA this morning.

There's now a new link on the home page for "Beta Msg Board".

Curiosity got the best of me. I clicked on the link and it brought me to the sign on screen that asks for your user name and password which I entered and it directed me to......(DRUM ROLL PLEASE)......

The sign in screen once again!

I don't claim to be technically saavy enough to understand most of this and perhaps it's not even on there for purposes to access yet. In all fairess, the "old" board is still working fine so I really don't have anything to complain about. Just some very confusing messages coming from over there....is zoho in or are they out....rhetorical questions, I know.

All the more reason for me to be ove here.....Kevin, this is really good work and I hope more people migrate over.

I noticed that new tab last night. Agree, I'm confused. Are they in or out? Looks  like more of the same. I did leave a post  about a bj question, then got marked as spam because I posted a link in my reply to the bj survey. Probably won't be visiting aga

Saw that too Dan.  ZOHO, or whoever they are now working with, may really want the account and willing to work out the bugs.  Who knows, might work.  But I predict even if they do go to a different system, and one that works this time, there will still be the usual complaints.  :)

I haven't checked this as I didn't notice it. I'm sure they're trying to find some logical solution to the problems encountered. I assume the search for someone to "run" the boards is cost related and I understand. It's always amazed me that my membership price never went up year after year. I paid $50 in the mid-ninties and I pay $50 now. I think all anyone, or should I say most, want is a workable board that's convenient to use and has a comfortable eye. Marc is right though. They can come up with the "perfect" program and someone will still bitch. I'm pulling for them as I want to see both theirs and this board work in tandem.

Good Luck!

Guys, agree on both fronts...

1. Want LVA to succeed.

2. Realize that change is usually met with reluctance and you'll always have some naysayers.

The thing that I don't understand is that there isn't a cohesive message being put forth to the members as to direction. I frankly don't care who they opt to use as a service provider....all I care about is that it serves my needs. The overwhelming majority felt that zoho wasn't the solution and I would agree. The more people who come across and post here lessens my "need" to visit there.

There's a window of opportunity for them to get it right and I'm not sure many members will give them more than a second chance.

They've had a few chances, but rest assured it will all be better in February.

Remember when they started carrying advertising, although said they didn't?  The attitude toward members changed shortly before that.

I feel I should point out again, too, that I'm (LVAdvice.com) not in business to compete with LVA.  In fact, I'm making nothing off of this site.  I'm not charging anyone for access, I don't intend to publish newsletters, books, or coupons, and I don't desire to see LVA fail or be hurt.  (In the future, I may add some unobtrusive ads and/or a "donate" button for folks to help out if the hosting bill gets to be too excessive.)

I just wanted to offer a better alternative to the awful ZOHO forums when it appeared that LVA was going full speed ahead with ZOHO.

Of course, days after launching this site, LVA started the beginning of the mixed messages about abandoning ZOHO.

I'm still viewing and posting on both boards (that is, the LVA "old" boards and here).  I don't anticipate that will change for me unless they make the decision to try ZOHO again, something I have no interest in.

Agree! Thank you again for making the new boards. I would be more then willing to help fill the bucket should the need arise. You've done a great job and a million at-a-boys just can't begin to thank you enough. Well done!

I also will issue thanks.

I am amazed at how easy it was to get my user name and avitar. I did not need to turn my firewall off. Why was the one they took months to pick end up such a disastrer? Well time to move forward.

Thanks again, I will looking around I see a lot of regulars.

Welcome aboard Pam :)

I think your going to love it here.  The group is great and the  administrator Kevin, is also a user of the site and very much on top of things.
I think AC not being a active member of his own site, makes a differance also.
Best Regards,
Lolly

LOL,

Jerry, your comment about things getting fixed over there in February is roughly equivalent to what I said over there that hacked AC into a frenzy.

As Kevin stated, I want LVA to succeed as their goals and mine USUALLY run along the same lines.  I can't wait to see the MRB this year......after last years quantum spiral downward, the sequel should be very interesting.  This year we cut to only one subscription because all that was really in the book of any interest was some of the buffets.  But even the buffet deals have been declining in number and also getting the Mo - Th qualifier.

This year with ACG seemingly downgraded, it looks as though the coupon landscape is really getting a shellacking (sorry Barack!).

Oh geez AC couldn't find his nose with both hands these days.  You were right then and you are right now.

Remember when it used to be 'we don't carry advertising'?  Then Red Carpet VIP could solve the hidden problem.

The lack of respect for customers over there has only grown.  The forums were valuable because of information members posted, not because they were connected to the magic Mr. Flowers.  He kind of missed that point.  And a subscription to the newsletter, yeah how many years of LV top ten values do I really need?  Good for Travel Channel types, but really now.....

The MRB is worse because of the people that buy it?  It's the customers fault!

Knagl puts together an excellent forum that they could not develop for their customers while taking customers' money.

Now the home page at LVA is missing the "member login". If you click on the message boards you can login once you're on that page.
