GREAT promotion! (Over)
« on: January 27, 2013, 07:57:05 AM »
The Hard Rock Hollywood, Florida, had a promotion yesterday (Saturday) that was, IMHO, just ..... well, you decide.

Electronic drawing every 20 minutes, beginning at 8:00 am until 5:40 PM.  One free entry per person, per day, plus additional entries for every xx points given all month long.

The prize every 20 minutes, $25,000 FSP. Downloaded on special debit style player card, not the paper voucher type, so easier to use. Stick it in a machine and download what you want, than put your player card into the machine to earn points and benefits.

In addition, another $25,000 given away every hour at a "random" time during the hour, and equally divided among all eligible players actively playing with their card in the machine. (NO VP or roulette)

Naturally, I just had to be there, with my 20 something entries. So what if some high rollers had thousands, I figure I have to be in it to win it.

I arrive at 7 am ish.  First drawing at 8am, and I wanted to be absolutely clear on the "rules" for the free play distribution.  Slots only. Yech.  And I also had some "saves" with others. (They all had many more entries than I did.)

And the crowd was lighter than I had anticipated.  I ad anticipated correctly the the distributed hourly FSP would be much higher in the early morn.

At 8:27, everyone active got awarded $30.00 FSP. At 9:40 ish, $20.00. At 10: 30 ish, $15.00, at 11:45 ish, $10.00, at 12:15 ish, $10.00, at 1: 30 ish $5.00.  The $5.00 remained for the rest of the day.  Remember, they were distributing $25K evenly to all "eligible" players.  Once the "time" hit, I'd take a break until the next hour started. ::: shrug :::

Once the FSP hourly got down to $5.00, I quit the machines and went to play poker. I was still eligible for the 20 minute drawings. But the machine was costing me about $5.00/hour, so why play?

By being there from the beginning, I got $90.00 FSP.  And I "quit" early on that part of the promo. I don't play slots often, and was only doing so to remain eligible for the FSP each hour.

And I spent a lot of time looking for a suitable slot.  Finally settled on 3x4x5x 4 reel.  It was among the cheapest to play, 20 lines=20 cents. And, I could (and did) play one line=1 cent.  And played SLOW. Spun the wheels, than sip my beverages, or smoke a cigarette, or chat with someone. Than spin that penny away again. (Every other spin or less often,  I'd splurge for the 20 cent biggie. I was earning points at about 1 per hour. LOL

So, anyhow, I gained, and converted a fair amount of FSP ($90 fsp to $70 is cash) and spent from 7 am until 5:45 pm.

The 20 minute drawings for $25K FSP? Well.........  They called my first name with a different last name. Twice.

Sort of like drawing one card to the Royal needing the J of spades, and seeing it fill with the jack of clubs.

I was, IMHO, an almost perfect advantage player yesterday. There for the drawings only, but it was a long day. 11+ hours.

So totally exhausted from lack of sleep Friday night, and the very long day, upon reflecting back on this promotion, I would do it again in a heart beat.

I ended up a net loser for the day, but only because I lost playing poker. My Queens full on the turn lost to a royal. Grrrrr.

So my Saturday results.... on 3 1/2 hours sleep, after 11+ hours on premises, two meal comps, 1 pack of cigarettes, 3 5-hour energy shots, countless cups of coffee, tips for the CW's, and a "bad beat" at live poker was minus $8.00.

Will have to improve those results next time.

BTW: By early afternoon, the place was a crowded zoo.  But that's another story. :)

So, between the 20 minute drawings and the hourly group one, they gave away over $900,000.00 in freeplay in one day? Wow, that's a lot!

They actually "Guaranteed" and promoted it as One million for the giveaway in one day.  I "think" there was also a "mystery jackpot" for a "hot seat" but not really certain.

The million giveaway was between their 3 properties in Broward County.

Hard Rock Hollywood, Cypress Creek Casino, and Hollywood Classic.  The drawings were supposed to draw one name from qualified entries, and the three properties entries were all in one electronic "drum".  Most, but not all, of the $25K winners were at the Hard Rock, and they only had to "redraw" a couple times.  People had to activate their entries that day, so we "knew" that there were not many that would leave early.  The couple names that did not show up in 4 minutes were after 4:00 PM.  (Nap time for the seniors, I guess. )

At 5:50 pm when I was leaving, I do believe the place was more crowded than I've ever seen it.  At 7:30am 'ish, I was kind of surprised it was not busier.

I hope they thought it a success, and do it again.

Next week works for me. LOL

Here is a link to the promotion and details.

I was mistaken about the hourly distribution.  I believe the total was well over 1 Million in one day.

RT, you better not let $LA get ahold of this info...it'll be all over his board and all three of his viewers will be one it. I also heard Dancer was flying in for it as well.

Actually, a no brainer promo...easy money....not a lot of it for the overwhelming majority but one person per hour was likely thinking it was all worth it.

Played and stayed at the HR Hollywood. It's a nice place but they're clueless with respect to comps. Host had no idea when we asked him what kind of coin in or theo was needed for RFB. Had an ugly incident one morning when we were checking out....full RFB didn't show in their system and speaking to anyone there at that hour of the morning was just about as useful as talking to a wall. The host eventually resolved it but after showing his ignorance his def of theo....you have to lose $2K to get RFB....really?....don't you think it's more like you need to have a theo loss of $2K? His question...."what's a theo loss?". Never went back after that. That's what no competition will do for a property!

Anyway, it looked like you should have been a winner on most fronts. That's what I'd call an AP!

When you take into consideration that promotions are always top heavy payoffs, something like this one was a nice, and I suspect popular change of pace.

3 people per hour, (1 every 20 minutes) won $25K FSP, and every player on slot machines "actively" received a little something.  I would definitely "go out of my way" for this sort of promotion rather than the "one winner" drawings.

Yeah, that promo was an "AP".  I quit after receiving $90 FSP, as it was just not worth sitting at a machine and staying active for $5.00 per hour FSP.  And as soon as the distribution was downloaded, I was walking until the next distribution period began.

BTW:  Players with "Elite" status also had 7x points on Saturday.

I did check the RV-trailer park lot to see if RS had snuck into Florida. And I forgot to post a message on LVA asking Dancer if he thought I should try for the $25K drawings.
