Las Vegas cabbie finds (and returns!) $300,000 in cash
« on: December 24, 2013, 07:00:17 PM »
What a story.  No word yet on a possible reward (if any).  As much as I'd like to think I'd return it, if I was faced with an anonymous bag of $300,000 in cash, there'd be some awful temptation...

I would have returned the cab and kept the money. If someone couldn't keep tabs on 300K in a paper bag, well, it clearly didn't mean a whole helluva lot to them.

With my luck, I'd keep the money only to have the police breaking down my door with an arrest warrant for theft after the rightful owner reported the dough missing and they were able to trace everything back to me.  That's why my gut would lean way more towards reporting it despite the temptation that I would have to keep it or any part of it.

There is a law in Vegas that property found in a cab must be immediately reported, yada yada.  For some reason, I also believe it is a felony.

The Vegas Taxi Authority has been know to do "stings" in cabs, forgetting a wallet with cash, etc.  I recall seeing it on television, perhaps "Cops".

Just something for the lucky cabbie to consider.

The poker player just gave him $10,000.  No ID on the player

I feel that is a very nice reward and both parties should be happy with the outcome.
There will never be another Vegas, enough said.

I'll bet the cabbie will be asking himself for many years, what if I didn't turn it all in.

Finders' fees usually range from 10 to 20 percent. I would have kept it.
