Is this the beginning of the end already, or just some early operational jitters?  SLS Las Vegas has cut hours at some of its restaurants and facilities.  The buffet hours have been drastically cut, and it will now only be open weekends.

Also, their once 24-hour cafe now is closed from 4pm to 11pm, oddly spelled out in this sign:

Last time I stayed at the Stratosphere (maybe 10 years ago) their 24-hour coffee-shop was closed at lunch time!  ???

"oddly spelled out" alright!

So it's always open, except when it isn't.

It's all because of the Bean Counters.

Well, technically it's still a 24 hour café Friday and Saturday.

:rotf:  Yeah, it's kind of like the GN's no resort fee fees.
Maybe the sign maker didn't understand the definition of "daily."
If you place a statistician's head in dry ice and his feet in boiling water, then on the average he is fairly comfortable but his comfort has a large variance.

This may be the fastest place to tank in Vegas history.

I was going to try the buffet on my recent visit but it was closed because of the new weekend-only hours.    The Bier garden was completely empty too....all this despite the resort having a very healthy crowd.   I dont know what to make of it.   I think it still needs to build an identity.   Aspects of the SLS appeal to the hipster-trust-fund-brat-crowd ....but other aspects are for low rollers that would frequent the old Sahara.

All I can say is I liked the resort and would consider staying there in the future.

What were prices like in the Bier Garden? And did it have national brands or craft brews? If they are interested in the hipster crowd, Miller Lite isn't going to do it.

Craft beers and craft cocktails are the way to go. Add affordable pricing and you have a perfect combination.

On the flip side, if they are trying to appeal to low rollers.... then the national beers should do just fine.

You're probably right - they need to create their identity. I considered staying there until I saw room rates of nearly $200 a night for my upcoming trip.
