I agree about traveling or just being alone in general, having been so for so long. I also find people to talk with along the way as they, as you've said, often share a passion since we are both in the same place, whether it's a casino or a national park. If I didn't mind dining or doing things alone, I'd never leave the house. My mom won't go to a restaurant alone. I've tried to get her to do so for years but no dice. Even worse, she doesn't like to cook. Doh

If you place a statistician's head in dry ice and his feet in boiling water, then on the average he is fairly comfortable but his comfort has a large variance.

Most people have more than the average number of legs.

Just call me the "quad kickers" of deuces wild and double bonus poker.

Great article Bonnie. I feel exactly like you do. There are benefits to both but given the choice alone inches out traveling with someone. The freedom of doing whatever whenever is a great feeling. Not having to ask what would you like to do today makes it worth it.  If a person feels lonely at dinner time I sometimes go to the cafe and sit at the counter and talk to the server which I sometimes know anyways. I play a lot of blackjack so never lonely for conversation as the blackjack tables if you get a good one are full of conversation.  At night I love to go in the bed and turn the sleep timer on the TV for 120 minutes and put an old movie on or something I can relax too. The not having to worry abut disturbing the other person is immense. I sleep better when alone on the trip.
