Could you check on steak night at the South Point buffet during July since you will be in town?

I would hope that would be on the to do list.

Thanks guys!  We figured doing maybe an hour at the pool in early morning then do our casino hopping later in the day. I have no intention of walking the strip! We always rent a car so that won't be a problem. Who knows, the way the weather has been so crazy this year it may be snowing in Vegas in July!

No snow in Vegas in July but maybe in Buffalo (1974). Summer in vegas is better than any other time of year. less clothes, all the pools are open and it appears that the casinos offer way more incentives to come into their establishment.

I always rent a car and valet park (because it appears that all valet lots are covered as opposed to outside at Gold Coast, Green Valley, The Palms etc). When I do give my car to the valet, I always turn the AC up full blast in hopes that when he/she pulls up in it to give it back to me, it's close to raring to go!

I was just there on Monday night, so I went to steak night. I didn't try a steak because they didn't look all that good (didn't really expect much for steak on a buffet). Or more accurately, they didn't look nearly as good as the rare prime rib looked at the carving station, so I got the prime rib instead. I'm sure I'll go back to SP, so maybe I'll try the steak next time.

I really thought the buffet was quite good. The salad bar was nice and I had some really good soup.

Now wait just a minute here. How did we get back on the infamous steak night buffet? By the time we are all through, everyone here will have gone to that magnificent buffet only to see the steaks and say, "no thanks".  :bye:

C'mon Bob,

We'll both be there next month......why don't we give it a try?

Oh how I would love to but sadly it's on Monday nights and I don't arrive until Tuesday afternoon. You and Betty, however, will be in town on Monday so I implore you to give it a whirl. You can report to me, or better yet, save me one.  :rotf:

Alas, I think we will pass on the steak night buffet. For some reason we like our steaks from a nice steak house.  ;)

My brother and I have been going to Vegas each July for the past 10 years.  We do a golfing marathon...this year it is 10 rounds in six days playing two rounds most days.

The early mornings in July are great a dry mid- 80's and it feels great.  On the days we don't double round golf we will jog the strip in the early morning without problems.  As for golf...the first round is usually done by 11:30 and its not too bad.  We do a quick lunch and head out, the first few holes of the second round are the toughest after sitting in AC and eating.  Once you get going it is fine.  We hydrate and sunscreen with a high degree of regularity.  I would say we drink about 1/2 liter of water every 2-3 holes and re-apply sunscreen about every 6-9 holes.

Best part of July golf is that the courses are practically empty (especially in the afternoon) and the rounds are about 3-3.5 hours each.  Green fees are super cheap.

After a day of golf and a good shower, walking the Strip after dark on July is a piece of cake.

I love Vegas in July!

I was in LV for my birthday (July 30) last year. The heat isn't that bad -- I'm okay until 112 or above. But drink water. Lots of water.

Two stories:  One of the first times I was in LV, I walked about nine miles to familiarize myself with the place. It was summer, I felt fine, then got all wobbly at the end. No wonder -- I had dropped about eight pounds! And because I wasn't sweating, I wasn't aware.

I went jogging two years ago -- summer about eight in the morning. It was amazing -- I could feel rivulets of sweat trickling down my face, but they almost instantly dried and I could feel the coolness where they evaporated. Like little icy streams down my face!! Then instantly gone. That tells you how fast you dehydrate if you exert in the heat.

Water and gatoraid will be on the shopping list the first day.

This trip we are going to try to take a drive up to Mt Charleston to cool off!
