The American Coney Island Dogs have a nice 'snap' to them.  I really like them.  Note there is an LVA 2-for-1 coupon for these pups.

I have the LVA book and never noticed that ...lol. But I didn't want two. (Then I wouldn't have had room for the brownie)

Hopefully I will have a room mate in the fall to share the hotdogs with.

They serve what we Michiganders call a Detroit Style Coney.  There is a Flint Style Coney that I am used to eating here in Bay City.  The sauce used isn't a Chili, but a Coney Sauce which is basically Ground meat seasoned with lots of chili powder, salt and pepper.  Both are good, but I prefer the Flint style, because that is what I grew up eating.

They also have gyro's, which is kind of hard to find downtown, (there is a place in Neonopolis that has them as well).

I thought my gyro was pretty decent, and priced reasonably.

I like to eat quick so I can get back to better things and this place is a good eatery for doing so, and the dog looks like a good thing to try too.

The best, and easiest, way to enforce social distancing is to shower only once a month.

What did that dog cost?  I may try it next time I'm in town.

The dog was 4.59 I believe.

Maybe this was more like a Flint dog...because to call that stuff sauce rather than chili seems more apt.
I dunno....

Nothing like a Michigan coney island. My mother worked in a coney island in Detroit for a lot of years and believe me,I certainly ate my share.lol.And they are not as expensive as the D'S.They tried to open one in West Hollywood Cal. several years ago,but it did not go over well.

Thanks for reviewing the hot dog. I've always used my D comps to take home a gyro and have never ordered a dog. I did try a bun filled with only the ground meat stuff to round out a coupon (the dog wouldn't fit ) and I LOVE the caramel nut brownies. They should be illegal.

The employees at Coney Island have always been great and will completely separate all of the ingredients of my gyro so that I can reheat and assemble it at home when I'm ready.

I guess I'm just not a fan of buying hot dogs in restaurants. I've always figured that all it takes to make a hot dog at home is less than one minute in the microwave and another minute in a toaster oven for that browning effect, so why pay anything over 69¢ for one out of the house? Seriously, they are so quick and simple to make at home that they rival any hot, meat-including go to snack in a pinch. I prefer Hebrew Nationals.

I guess I'll have to bite the dog and try at least two: one at Coney Island and one at the South Point sports book cart.

Maybe if I grew up in NY buying them off of street cart vendors I'd have a different view.

They're not a exceptional value when compared to the hot dog carts at the locals casinos, but man, the chili dogs at American Coney Island are awesome. The chili cheese fries are also a favorite. It's wonderful drunk food! :)

Highlights for me include that the place is open 24 hours (so it's there after a long night of playing/drinking), and as others mentioned there's a LVA 2-for-1 coupon available, and you can pay with your D comp dollars by using your player's card.

They are good weenies, for us it's been a welcome addition to Downtown, and yes, the LVA coupon is a plus.  Great, friendly, fast service.  Good hot dogs (natural cases that snap).  Tasty chili sauce.  Real French fries.  Thanks for the advice and picture of the brownie, too, Bonnie, who would have known?

One spoiler alert, though.

What distinguishes the chili in a Detroit Coney is that the meat is mostly beef heart.  Don't let that put you off, though.
