Pet friendly rooms on the strip
« on: March 21, 2011, 07:44:49 PM »
A lot of folks have small house pets and can't find a good sitter to watch their pet(s) while traveling. The Harrah's Operating Company is now catering to this group and has pet rooms at most of their properties. This includes Harrah's, Imperial Palace, Rio, Ceaser's Palace, Paris, Bally's, and Planet Hollywood.
Wife and I stayed at the Imperial Palace with our french bulldog twice. First trip last December was ok and the room was clean and just acceptable. The second trip was in January and the room had wet carpeting (just cleaned) and it was next to the parking garage. So noise was a big issue. The doggy potty area is in an alley next to the parking garage. My dog would not go into it, too stinky!! Can't remember the tower the pet rooms are in, but do remember it was a long walk to the casino.
I would not recommend the Imperial Palace.
Last month we stayed at The Flamingo. Pet room was on the 17th floor in what they called a "go" room. Room was very nice and the elevators were fast. Once out of the elevator it was a quick walk to the garden area where the doggy patch was and it was very well maintained.
I do recommend the Flamingo pet rooms. Very nice.

Everything I've read so far says it's only for dogs.

We had to take our cat with us once after he had had surgery and still needed meds. Our host at Silverton was wonderful about it. We took a small litterbox and hand held vacuum with us to be sure to keep things clean. Oh, and air freshener. Nobody was the wiser.

That's nice to know about the Flamingo.  I wonder how may they would allow? I have two small dogs. One is 19lbs and the other 12lbs.
Your right, finding a good pet sitter is hard and has become an issue since our son  bought his own home.

So, when your checking-in,  you just bring them in pet carriers?

Best Regards,
Lolly

can you see the OP's avatar?    They are not nearly as cute as beagles
so those of us who want to bitch, are going to bitch.  and those who want to bitch about the bitching are going to bitch about the bitching.

What a cutie!!  Almost as cute as my Shelties  ;)
Handle every stressful situation like a dog...If you can't eat it or hump it, pee on it and walk away.

I think it would be best to call the casino and ask. At the Imperial Palace my room was comped but they took a $50 deposit and returned it when the room was inspected after checkout. At the Flamingo (Nascar weekend) my wife had made the reservations and I checked in while the Mrs. and dog waited in the car at the parking garage. (Valet was overflowing so we parked it) They never charged me a deposit. So I'm guessing it's different for each casino and maybe different depending on who checks you in.
Not sure about cats, but I don't see why not? Again, call and ask!
While in the room the dog stayed in our portable kennel while we were gone. Taking her to the potty area we had her on a leash and walked down the hall to the elevator. Down the elevator to the shopping area, and then out the door to the garden following signs to the "Pet Relief" area. No taking dogs into the casino, shops, etc!
At the Imperial Palace I saw a few big Labs and other large dogs. And I saw people with two dogs so I think two is ok. Again, just ask.

Now about our dog. Here are a couple of pics of Natalie at Halloween and Christmas. We got her after our two Basset Hounds passed away at the age of 13. Frenchies are really comical, loveable dogs. They like toys and like to dress up. LOL
My avatar pic was taken at Mccarren Airport.
